Applying for a Library Card
Only residents of Waterford or Lake Angelus are eligible for a Waterford Township Public Library card. Library cards are registered free of charge on-site or remotely.
Adult Residents
A valid picture ID showing the resident's current Waterford or Lake Angelus address is needed at the time of registration. A utility bill dated within the past 30 days or an official document stating that one rents or owns property in the Waterford or Lake Angelus area may be used to verify residency in circumstances where a picture ID has not been updated. All bills and documentation must show the applying resident's name.
Youth Residents
Residents under the age of 18 are able to get a library card at the request of their parent or legal guardian (guardianship paperwork required at the time of registration). The parent or legal guardian must possess a valid picture ID showing their current Waterford or Lake Angelus address. A utility bill dated within the past 30 days or an official document stating that one rents or owns property in the Waterford or Lake Angelus area may be used to verify residency in circumstances where a picture ID has not been updated. All bills and documentation must show the applying resident's name. If another member of the household or family friend is bringing the child to the library or if they are visiting with a school, the parent or legal guardian may print and complete the Child's Library Card Application (PDF) and send it in with the child.
Remote Registration
To register for a library card remotely, complete this online application. Library cards issued remotely are valid for thirty days. To renew your card for a standard three-year lifecycle, please bring a valid photo ID showing your Waterford or Lake Angelus address to the library during our public access hours.
What If I do not live in Waterford or Lake Angelus?
Residents outside of the Waterford and Lake Angelus area that reside in a community whose library is a reciprocating member of The Library Network (TLN) cooperative can use their home library card at the Waterford Township Public Library. In some circumstances, a 30-day temporary card can be issued to residents of such reciprocating communities to allow time to get a card from your home library.

Can my library card be used at another library?
Yes. A valid Waterford Township Public Library card may be used at any library in The Library Network (TLN) shared system. If you plan on visiting a member library that does not directly link with us, it is recommended that you contact that library prior to your visit to inquire about their reciprocating borrowing privileges and computer access policies.
