Rental Payment Assistance For Those Affected by COVID-19This program provides rental payment subsistence assistance to impacted Waterford Township residents who have lost their job, been furloughed, or had their hours reduced because of the economic impact of COVID-19. Assistance can be provided one-time or short-term for up to three consecutive months. Payments are made directly to the local agent or management company providing the housing on behalf of the qualified resident. Eligible residents include those living in households with incomes at or below 80% AMI and can provide documentation of need due to the applicable impact of COVID-19, etc. Assistance will be provided to qualified rental households on a first come first serve basis until the allocated funds are exhausted or the assistance program is no longer found to be necessary. Assistance cannot exceed the actual cost of the rent (including late fees) and shall not exceed fiscal year 2020 FMR values as well as HUD’s standard of rent reasonableness. Waterford Township Public Library - September News
Library Re-opening Pending We are moving to Phase 3 of our reopening plan which is opening for in-person service on a limited basis – Circulation Lobby only. Date To Be Determined. Due to capacity limit of 10 persons, including staff, patrons are asked to visit the Library quickly and efficiently. Here’s what can you expect.
- New service hours: Monday through Thursday, 10:00a-9:00p, Saturday, 10:00a-5:00p. Dedicated time for Vulnerable People: 10:00a-10:30a Monday through Thursday.
General Public: Monday – Thursday, 10:30a-9:00p, Saturday, 10:00a-5:00p. - Masks are required inside the Library per Township policy (based on Executive Order). Disposable masks will be available for patrons who arrive without their own masks.

- Returning – in entryway for quarantine purposes
- Renew loan and Pick up/Check out holds
- Self-service photocopying (coin or $1 bills only)
- Getting or renewing a library card
- Resolving issues with library accounts
- Public access computers (total of 3). Session – 45 minutes, maximum 90 minutes/day. Waterford and Lake Angelus cardholders only. Appointments recommended. Printing: 10 pages maximum, no charge. NOTE: All computers are fully self-service at this time. Due to social distancing requirements, staff are NOT able to provide any form of hands-on computer assistance.
- Reference service, including librarians pulling items from the collection for checkout. (Book stacks closed to the public.)
- ACCESS TO FAMILY RESTROOM ONLY.
- Social distancing and all safety guidelines will be followed.
- Daily cleaning and disinfecting of all high touch areas will be conducted.
Contactless services continue with Curbside Pick-up service. Staff are available to answer your calls (248-674-4831)/emails (wateref@waterfordmi.gov or watekids@waterfordmi.gov) Monday through Thursday, 10:00a-9:00p and Saturday, 10:00a-5:00p. The exterior book returns are open. Materials returned continue to be quarantined for 96 hours before they are discharged from your account. Overdue fines are suspended until further notice.
1,000 Books before Kindergarten For children, infant to 5 years. We are a participating library in this early literacy program. You can participate online using phone apps for either iPhone or Android. Search under 1000 Books before Kindergarten. Read to your young child. For every 100 books that you read together, we will put your child’s name on our “Wall of Fame.” Once the Library reopens, your child can pick out a book to keep. Reach the 1,000-book milestone and get a book bag.
September is National Library Card Sign-up Month Your library card opens up a world of treasures – information, online services like Brainfuse for students and job seekers, eContent and, of course, books from the library. Waterford and Lake Angelus residents can apply online for a library card – from the safety of your home or office. Simply complete the form on this webpage, https://www.waterfordmi.gov/532/Library-Cards and follow the link to the online form. Complete and click submit. Your card will be mailed to you within days.

From Treasurer Margaret Birch Summer Taxes Due
To avoid interest/penalties, please pay your summer taxes before or on September 14, 2020. Any payments made starting September 15, 2020 will be subject to interest/penalties. Please take advantage of our online services through our website costing just $1 if paid through a checking or savings account.
All customers must wear a mask before entering the building and are encouraged to wear gloves. When in our lobby, please use the social distancing markers that have been placed on our floor.
We also offer a drop box outside the Treasurer's office door(as you walk up on the left connected to the building) if you wish to drop your tax payment there for contactless payment.
Office hours: now through September 4 we are open 7:30am to 4:30pm. We will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th. Office hours beginning Tuesday, September 8th are 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Monthly Recycling- September 12 Waterford Township offers free monthly recycling collection of magazines and cardboard (shipping boxes, cereal boxes, toothpaste boxes, etc, free of food debris and dry.)
This service is provided the second Saturday of every month from 9am to 1pm in the parking lot at Township Hall.
Waterford residents only, please.
Residents are also encouraged to practice social distancing and wear masks for their own protection, and for the protection of the workers and other residents.

Closed for Labor Day
Waterford Township Administrative offices will be closed Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.
The Waterford Township Public Library will also be closed for curbside service on Labor Day, however they will offer curbside collection on Saturday, September 5th. Please visit their website for details regarding curbside service www.waterfordmi.gov/library
Emergency services remain available during this administrative closure. On behalf of the employees and elected officials of Waterford Township, we wish you a happy and healthy Labor Day weekend.

Return to Regular Operating Hours
Waterford Township summer administrative office hours end Friday, September 4th. Beginning Tuesday, September 8th administrative offices return to standard hours 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Please remember we have multiple drop box locations for remote business that are available 24/7 for your convenience. The Waterford Township website also offers a host of self-service solutions for forms, payments, and contact.

19th Annual Clinton Cleanup Event - Waterford Info
KAYAK CLEANUP IN WATERFORD: September 26, 9:00am-11:00am Elizabeth Lake Road, Meet at Waterford Clinton River Launch Site. Join local volunteers as we clean up the Clinton River from Waterford Canoe launch on Elizabeth Lake Road to Cass / Elizabeth Lake road launch ( Marco’s Pizza).
