Guidelines for Library Advisory Committee Trustees

In addition to the parameters of service, set out for appointees to the Library Advisory Committee in the Bylaws, the following guidelines may be helpful to demonstrate ways Library Advisory Committee members can be involved on behalf of the Library.

Get a library card if you don’t already have one

Become a member of the Waterford Township Friends of the Library if you aren’t already a member

Attend at least 2 fundraising events sponsored by the Waterford Township Friends of the Library during the year

Attend at least 2 programs sponsored by the Library during the year

Establish & maintain contact with one or more of Waterford’s elected officials to

o Thank them for their support

o Invite them to participate in a Library or Friends sponsored event

o Advocate for increased funding

Establish & maintain contact with at least one of Waterford’s elected representatives on the state or federal level to

o Thank them for their support

o Invite them to participate in a Library or Friends sponsored event

o Advocate for increased funding

Encourage local businesses to become sponsors of library programs and projects, e.g.

Summer Reading

o Landscape improvements to Library grounds

o Upgrade of amenities such as the walkway lights at the Library entrance
