Attention all “Snowbirds”! Please contact the Waterford Assessing Department with your forwarding address if you are leaving town for the winter. Even though you may have your mail forwarded by the U.S. Post Office, property tax bills and assessments notices are not forwarded and are returned to the Township. Please call 248-674-6270 to let us know your Winter address.

November Office Closings

Waterford Township Offices and the Library will be closed Thursday & Friday November 23 & 24, 2017 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Emergency services remain available during this administrative closure.

Waterford Police Dept. Participates in No-Shave November

What is No-Shave November?
No-Shave November is a month-long journey during which participants forgo shaving in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness.

The Concept
The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow. Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.

Waterford Police Dept. Participation
The Waterford Police Department is all-in again for No Shave November. All Department personnel who wish to participate will make a donation, then grow a beard, mustache, or goatee November 1-30, 2017.

The Waterford Police Department Team is registered under the team name: "Waterford Police Blue Beards" on the NO-Shave November website at https://no-shave.org/team/Blue_Beards
Donations for specific participants or the team as a whole can be made directly on the website - officers cannot accept donations directly.

No Shave November has been around since 2009. They fund American Cancer Society, the Prevent Cancer Foundation, the Fight Colorectal Cancer organization and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Fire Department Reminds Residents:
"Plan Two Ways Out Of Your Home"

Every second counts plan two ways out is extremely important message! Do to the following issues. The synthetic fibers used in modern home furnishings, along with the fact that newer homes tend to be built with more open spaces and unprotected lightweight construction, all contribute to an increased rate at which fire burns.

Experts say you could have less than two minutes to escape a home fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds.

“Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” is so important please follow the below steps.

Draw a map of your home with all members of your household, marking two exits from each room and a path to the outside from each exit.
Practice your home fire drill twice a year. Conduct one at night and one during the day with everyone in your home, and practice using different ways out.
Teach children how to escape on their own in case you can’t help them.
Make sure the number of your home is clearly marked and easy for the fire department to find.
Close doors behind you as you leave – this may slow the spread of smoke, heat, and fire.
Once you get outside, stay outside. Never go back inside a burning building.
Pick a meeting place. Example mail box, neighbors home, flag pole.

Small Business Saturday is celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving each year as one of the busiest shopping days of the holiday season. While the big box retailers attract shoppers with Black Friday door busters and early morning sales, small businesses welcome customers into their community stores on Small Business Saturday celebrated on November 25, 2017.
