Used Book Donation Drop-off
Saturday, September 9, 2023, 10:00a-1:00p. Community Room.
The Friends of the Library accepts gently used books in SALEABLE condition on the second Saturday of each month from 10:00a - 1:00p. Donations will be considered for use in the Library's collection as well as merchandise included at the Friends Used Book Sales.

- Reader's Digest Condensed Books
For a receipt, please bring a count of hard cover and soft cover books as well as media items with you.

September is Library Card Sign Up Month
Students in grades K-5 who live in Waterford Township, sign up for their first library card at the Waterford Township Public Library. Receive a coupon that can be redeemed for a free book from the Children’s Department.
Saturday Storytime: Fall is Fun
Saturday, September 9, 10:30a – 11:15p, Storytime/Craft Room. No registration required.
Students in grades preschool through second grade are invited to join us for stories and crafts about autumn. No registration required.
Weekly Storytimes through September 12 through November 15
Drop-in storytimes are 30 minutes long and include a variety of stories, songs, fingerplays, and other activities. Choose the age-appropriate session from those listed below. No registration required.
NOTE: Children must be accompanied by a parent or a caregiver.

Students will be playing the game “Crime Caper”. Followed by “magic” lessons. Learn some fun tricks to share with friends and family. Ages 9-12.
Lego Club

September is Library Card Sign Up Month
New school year, new clothes, new supplies….new library card! 6th – 12th graders who get a library card in September will get a Culver's token good for one scoop of ice cream and can pick out a free book at the Adult Reference desk. Parents or legal guardians must apply for library cards for kids under 18. This offer is valid only for Waterford residents getting their very first Waterford library card and not for replacement cards for active library accounts.

Copper Miners: Trials and Tribulations in 1913 Michigan’s Copper Country

This historical presentation is given by Donna Simons, author of Copper Empire: A Novel about the Copper Country Labor Strike in 1913. Learn more about:

- The nine-month labor strike

- How the strike led to a tragedy that forever changed the Copper Country
Copper Country is an area in the Upper Peninsula where copper mining was prevalent from the mid-1800s to the late 1960s. It includes Keweenaw, Houghton, Baraga, and Ontonagon counties as well as part of Marquette County.

Waterford Writers Workshop
Saturday September 16, 11:00a-2:00p, Conference Room. Ages 16 or older. No registration required.
The Waterford Writers Workshop is a forum where serious writers share their work and receive and provide constructive, supportive critiques of each member’s writing. Each writer will email their work (6 pages of 12pt font, double-spaced prose or two poems) to other members at least one week prior to the meeting date. Those attending the workshop will be prepared to discuss their own writing, as well as providing edits and suggestions on other member’s writing. The workshop will meet every third Saturday of the month, 11am-2pm, in the conference room of the Waterford Library. Our goal is to write, share, and develop polished prose and poetry. To evoke, provoke, and inspire. To take chances, be ambitious, write confidently, and celebrate the art of the written word and literature in general. Registration is not required. Anyone interested in joining needs only to attend an initial meeting. Participants must be 16 or older.
